Site Description

Relatively undisturbed beach forest series and freshwater swamp forests in excellent condition; the best surviving examples of these habitat types in the province, with all their characteristic flora and fauna.
Principal vegetation: 55,000 ha of freshwater swamp forest. |

Site Location |

| |
Singkil Barat is on the north west coast of Sumatra. The site is bordered to the east by the Simpang Kiri River and local roadway, and to the south by the Sinkel River. The settlements of Butar and Rundeng are situated on the eastern border and there is a minor airstrip between the two. |
