Site Description

The Reserve consists basically of a small mangrove swamp and estuary which has created a sandy island called Menipo. The flora on the island consists of mangrove and beach vegetation including Pandanus forest and a line of Spinifex grass just above the beach. The area beyond the boundaries of the Reserve is rather disturbed due to the presence of three villages, but the mangrove vegetation along the estuary is said to be still in good condition.
Principal vegetation: Rhizophora sp., Bruguiera sp., Xylocarpus moluccensis, Sonneratia alba. |
