Site Description

A small mangrove island in the middle of the Barito river, just outside Banjarmasin city, and this nature reserve consists of the Islands Pulau Kaget and Pulau Temburung. The island is fringed by a narrow band of mangrove vegetation while the core is heavilydisturbed and has been converted to agriculture. It is inhabited by semi-tame long-tailed macaques and proboscis monkeys.

Pulau Kaget is easy accessible from Banjarmasin. It only takes a 1.5 hours(2 km) journey by klotok over the river Barito. Klotok depart from Pelabuhan Ujung Murung in Banjarmasin |
